We are proud of the Stephen Mazujian Middle School! Located in the Arah Svay village just outside of Siem Reap, this school supports the students and families of not only the Arah Svay village, but also 11 other surrounding villages. This cluster of 12 villages represent some of the poorest villages in Siem Reap. Quite a sad paradox considering it is located within the Angkor Wat complex, which attracts millions of tourists each year.
Due to the transformative support from Robert Barefield, John Pinette & Pradit Phuangmalai, the Arah Svay village and many others, we have been able to complete the construction of 15 classrooms, a study hall, a library, a computer lab, a sport court, a well, an office, a farming patch and an aquaculture pond at the Stephen Mazujian Middle School. In its first year of operation, this school gave an education to almost 350 students and employed 17 local Cambodian teachers and staff full time. Due to the great success of the students and staff, this school will be able to welcome an additional 450 students from the many primary schools in the surrounding area this upcoming November (including two schools we have worked closely with: the Spitler School and the Kurata School).
We are currently seeking to raise $75,000 in order to hire eight more teachers, to provide our students with uniforms, shoes and school supplies and to increase our current operations at this school. If you want to help us reach this goal and to provide a quality education to 900 deserving students please donate, start a fundraiser or contact Kenny King at Kenny@GlobalADE.org.
