Kenny King is the CEO of Global ADE and has worked extensively with multiple non-profit organizations, including helping to organize a shelter for troubled youth along with working with The American Cancer Society Relay for Life program. He became convinced of the power of education in changing the lives of students through his own experiences as a student and tutor and ambassador. Now he works to spread educational opportunity around the world.
Tim Foley is Global ADE's Development Director and has worked in nonprofit leadership and management for over ten years. Tim believes deeply that supporting education leads to sustainable employment, stable families and supports economic development. Most of Tim's career has been spent helping people attain education and employment skills to meet their personal aspirations.
Jeffrey D. King is the Board Chair of Global ADE. His experience ranges from company start-ups to the Presidency of three separate companies. His passion for the people of Cambodia started in 2006 and has continued to this day. This passion is shared by his wife, Tami who travels with him annually to Cambodia to volunteer and observe the great work being done to support these wonderful people. His is very pleased to be involved in the development of such an outstanding organization as Global ADE and looks forward to a future of service.
Tom Kelly is the Vice Board Chair of Global ADE and is a retired reinsurance intermediary and consultant to the insurance industry. A native of Philadelphia,PA ,he started his career in 1974 with the international consulting firm,Towers Watson (formerly known as Towers Perrin). During the course of his 35 year career in the reinsurance industry, Tom eventually became a Senior Vice President,Principal and Branch Manager of the San Francisco Office of Towers Watson. Over the years he worked as a consultant to a wide variety of insurance companies in the United States and internationally. Besides serving as the Vice Board Chair of Global ADE, Tom currently serves on the Boards of two property and casualty insurance companies. Tom is a 1973 graduate of Hobart College in Geneva,NY with a BA in English Literature.
Jim is the vice president of university relations at Santa Clara University and brings nearly 30 years of experience in university leadership positions, fundraising, government relations, alumni relations and marketing and communications activities. Prior to his role at SCU, Jim served as the vice president for university relations at the University of Portland and led the largest fundraising effort in the university’s 111-year history, the $200 million RISE Campaign. Among his leadership positions in professional and community organizations, he was elected President of the National Catholic Colleges Admission Association, is past president of North Portland Rotary, and has held board positions at Global ADE, Seton Catholic College Preparatory High School, Catholic Charities of Oregon, and Saturday Academy. Jim is currently a member of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, and Santa Clara Catholic Charities. Jim has an undergraduate degree in political science and public administration, as well as a master’s degree in public administration from Seattle University. He and his wife Connie have four sons, Daniel, Seth, Cameron and Curran.
After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, John spent 2 1/2 years serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer teacher in southern Thailand. Since then, John has lived and worked in Lebanon as a school counselor, in Africa (both Ghana and Kenya) as Peace Corps Country Director, and has worked in higher education at the University of Notre Dame and at the University of Portland (UP). John has traveled around the world to recruit students for the UP, including more than 20 trips to the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and the Far East. John holds a BA, MA, and JD, all from the University of Notre Dame. Most recently, he served (16 years) as Vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at the University of Portland, and continues travel internationally to work with UP alumni and student families.
John Pinette is a marketing and public relations professional with deep experience in the worlds of philanthropy, technology and finance. During his career, John has worked throughout Asia and brings notable SE Asia knowledge and experience to his work for Global ADE. Together with his spouse, Pradit Phuangmalai, he was responsible for the seed money and supported the major fund-raising for our Middle School Project in Siem Reap. Presently, John is the head of marketing and communications for Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s Vulcan, Inc. Pinette lives and works in Seattle.
Kurt Berning is the COO of Global ADE, and became convinced of the need to provide quality and accessible education for all students after extensive time abroad in Kenya, Cambodia, Honduras, and Australia. Awarded a 2012-2013 Fulbright Scholarship to the United Kingdom to pursue a Master’s in Education and Development, Kurt plans to use his education and experience to create impact and opportunities for underprivileged students.
